I actually got quite a bit read in October, though not as much Horror as I would have liked. I took a good chunk out of my Fall TBR too, which makes me happy because I’m going to get to mood read for most of November and December!
Books read: 9 for October, 86 for the year
DNF: 3
Pages read: 3,287 out of 28,587
Average rating: 3.78
Female Authors: 4 out of 39 for the year
Favorite Read(s):
I couldn’t pick just one so I went with two:
Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia
The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
Honorable mention to Kel Kade’s Fate of the Fallen, which I read way back in July but was technically the highest rated book for October.
Other Reads Completed:
I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll
Sword of Kings by Bernard Cornwell
People of the Lake by Nick Scorza
Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo
Airframe by Michael Crichton (RTC)
Alone by Christophe Chaboute (RTC)
ARCs Received:
A Beginning at the End by Mike Chen
The Better Liar by Tanen Jones
The Unwilling by Kelly Braffet
eGalleys Approved:
No, it’s not a joke, just a weird coincidence:
Planned Reads for November:
Dead Astronauts by Jeff VanderMeer
Random Other Posts from October:
Discussion: The Dawn of the DNF
Top Ten Tuesday: Spooks, Psychics and other Supernatural Books on my TBR
Reviews still to come on a few of these and the DNFs. How was your October? Anything special planned for November?
Wow, you had a great month. I can’t remember the last time I read 9 books! I love the two The Deeps, lol. I’ve read one, of course, and I have Alma’s as well. That is probably one of my most highly anticipated books next year😁 I’m hoping to read Gamechanger too!

Ugh! Gamechanger! Ive had it from the library for 6 weeks. I think I’ll tackle it next for sci fi Month.

Sounds like a good month! And thanks for the reminder about Gamechanger — it’s on my TBR, but I keep forgetting about it.

I’m about to start it. I think. I’ve only had it for forever. Sigh. Lol

I don’t have it yet, so at least that’s one less guilty TBR book for me. 😉 (But i have plenty of others on my shelves…)

Glad you had such a great reading month and hope you’ll be able to read your dose of horror for November! Can’t wait to see what I’ll think of Fate of the Fallen hahaha 😀

I can’t wait either!! I’m a little disappointed with the goodreads rating where it’s at now, so when I initially read it and loved it, I thought: “Here is a book everyone can enjoy!” And now it seems not everyone is enjoying it as much as I did. But then most books with a 4+ rating I tend to enjoy less, so who knows. I guess I have different tastes.
Anyway- I still hope you love it so I can have someone to discuss it with!

Thank you!! I’m reading through that one slowly now and to be honest I’m struggling. He took New Weird to a whole new level of weird.

A great month! Two Deeps, maybe you could do a side-by-side review? 😉 Looking forward to reading your reviews, some of these look pretty interesting!

Thanks! Unfortunately I think I’ll have to put one of them up soon. It released this week while the other one doesn’t release until March 2020. I could always repost the old one though!

I’m reading though it now and to be honest, it’s a little painful. It’s about as weird as new weird has ever gotten for me. It feels different than his past work.

Huh. Well now I’m even more intrigued lol! Good luck with the rest of it!

You’re about 30 books ahead of me for the year. Good going!
How was Airframe? Loved Jurassic Park and thought Prey was ok, been meaning to try more Crichton.

Airframe was okay- I’m going to try and review it later in the week. Was it a favorite Crichton? Probably not. Was it still better than most of what I read this year? Yup.
I learned a lot about airplanes and I’m convinced Crichton hated the media and thought they were all dirty dirty scumbags. Lol. And this is before #FakeNews!

He is certainly an author I want to read more of. Want to try Congo.

I haven’t read Congo, but I love the movie. No I don’t care that it’s awful. Lol. It’s on my list too.

I haven’t even seen the movie 🙈
Bad movies are the best. Batman and Robin with George Clooney proves that.

OMG YES! I thought I was the only one who preferred a Clooney Batman!
